STATEMENT NECKLACES // 20 UNDER £20

The statement necklace, There's no chance that you will have managed to miss this huge trend. Tucked under a crisp white shirt collar, layered up over winter knits, or matched with a casual tee to turn up the glamour factor - these super blingy pieces are perfect for transforming any outfit from drab to fab.

Here's 20 of the best I've found available online, all under the £20 price tag. As always, hyperlinks are provided that will take you straight to the item,

Hopefully one of these twenty will be a great addition to your wardrobe. Do bear in mind though, you can find these sorts of necklaces almost anywhere at the minute and some of the best I have in my own wardrobe are from trusty 'ol Primarni. I've also seen some stunners in the window of Baklash Vintage store in Nottingham city centre.

If you have a favourite statement necklace, tag us @uonfashionsoc in an Instagram post featuring your item, we'd love to see your picks.

Again I'd like to mention that I am looking for members of Fashion Soc to contribute to the blog. If you fancy writing a post - be it a one off or once a week -, or even just have a good article idea, please email me at nottsfashsoc@gmail.com. You don't have to have blogging experience, just an interest in your topic and willingness to write it. You could write about womens fashion, mens fashion, fashion from different cultures, vintage fashion, alternative fashion... you name it!

URBAN OUTFITTERS BLOOD SPLATTERED JERSEY - FAUX PAS OR FASHION FORWARD MARKETING PLOY? // FASHION NEWS

Controversial clothing store Urban Outfitters landed themselves in hot water again yesterday, over the sale of a vintage jersey that supposedly glorified the gory shootings at Kent State University in which four students died.
The jumper was posted on the American version of their website yesterday for $129, with the tagline ‘get it or regret it’. The item was hastily removed after the company was slammed as ‘disgusting’ over social media, however one was reportedly seen on sale on eBay for $500.
Images from ibtimes.co.uk and metro.us (screen grabs from UO website before being pulled)

A statement from Urban Outfitters apologised for the article of clothing, stating it was never their intention ‘to allude to the tragic events that took place at Kent State in 1970’, however the red washed colour, complete with blood stains, suggests otherwise.
This is not the first time Urban Outfitters has been criticised by social media. Earlier this year, the retailer faced backlash over a t-shirt emblazoned with the word ‘depression’ on the chest, which lead from its withdrawal from its stores.
Cynics have suggested that Urban Outfitters constant need to be ‘edgy’ by releasing potentially offensive merchandise is just a ploy to keep themselves relevant; if this is the case, this stunt has backfired massively, as many publications are calling for a boycott on the retailer.

THE COAT EDIT // WOMENS FASHION

In spite of the few unexpected sunny days we've had this week, there's no escaping the fact that summer's over, and the countdown to winter begins. An item that you really cannot live without as the months get colder is one good staple coat (who are we kidding, let's have 3 or 4 - we're fashion fiends over here!). But on a serious note, an investment coat will keep you toasty all winter long, and make those dinner-time walks back from campus more bearable.
Here's a few coats to consider, as well as some more transitional jacket-types that are ideal for layering and will keep you going while it's still too warm to dig out that trusty puffa coat.
As always, links to the items are included in the item description. Just give it a click and get shopping!

KOREAN BRAND STYLENANDA & 3 CONCEPT EYES // WOMENS FASHION

Getting bored of Western fashion and makeup? Let us show you what's in trend on the other side of the globe! Stylenanda might be a new brand to you but their design are very much in vogue throughout Asia already. They usually sell clothing with eye-catching designs and unique prints and style. You may find their outfits are more daring than other brands, but are really fun and fashion-forward.

The products from their own cosmetic line, 3 Concept Eyes (3CE), are also highly recommended by lots of youtubers and bloggers.

Wanna create your own lip colour? Lip pigment is a must-have item for your makeup bag. Simply mix two colours together to create your perfect custom lip shade. Don't forget it can also be applied on cheeks as cream blusher or even as eye shadow!

Get some ideas of how to use the lip pigment by watching this youtube video.

The 'gradient lip' is a very popular lip make up technique among Koreans. Simply tap some concealer on your lips covering your natural lip colour, then only apply lip pigment to the inner area of mouth, not the entire lip. Next use your finger to blend the colour outward and that's it. Try it! You may find you prefer this more innocent looking make up technique.

In case you are interested in purchasing products from this stylish Korean brand, they provide online shopping and offer overseas shipping!

Follow their instagram @Stylenanda_Korea / 3concepteyes
